ABOUT

This Tournament Has Everything (TTHE) is a women’s/trans/two-spirit/non-binary Inclusive hockey weekend held on the Sunshine Coast BC in ch'atlich (Sechelt) We are a boat access (BC Ferries) community, playing in a charming arena that was built in the early 70’s. TTHE is committed to creating, sustaining, and supporting a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion in hockey by focusing on making space for players who have historically been marginalized in the sport.

We held our first tournament in March 2023 with 4 small teams. We have since expanded to 8 teams, with over 126 players from all over North America (including the U.K.). In 2024 we received financial support from NHL Pride Unites  to purchase custom jerseys. These belong to TTHE to be used every year; which we believe is the best way to empower our players for the future. We released a series of videos highlighting some of our players out participating in their off-ice passions IN full hockey gear to showcase the diversity of what a hockey player “looks” like in hopes that this kind of representation encourages folks to get into hockey. These videos are available on our website and social media platforms. All participants self-assess their skill level and register as individual players (*can buddy up). They are then placed on teams, which helps encourage connection and build new friendships.

We believe in giving back to our community. Thanks to KER Enterprises, Tapworks Brewing Company, Persephones and Banditry Ciders continued sponsorship, TTHE is able to donate 100% of the proceeds from the 'Penalty Box' Bar upstairs at the arena to the  Sunshine Coast Youth Outreach, which provides drop in programs for queer youth and gender diverse folks. We were able to raise $1,100 in 2023, $2,100 in 2024, $2,393 in 2025 and $4,330 in 2026 bringing us to a whopping $9923 in just 4 years!

“I decided to throw this type of a tournament because I wanted players who don't necessarily feel included in hockey to know that they have a place on the ice. TTHE Hockey Weekend was meant to promote and advocate diversity and inclusiveness in the sport."

“After playing hockey for 7 years as a kid, I found the sporting world to be an increasingly intimidating and confusing place. Rediscovering hockey as an adult and participating in the TTHE tournament as a player & photographer has brought me so much joy and healing. I am grateful for this community and I am excited to help further the tournament’s reach.”

"It's been such a joy to witness what a positive impact TTHE Tournament has had on folks. From individual players to youth outreach programs to small and local businesses. I love being part of an event that celebrates women, queer and trans communities. It's so empowering the things we can accomplish when we come together. Go sports!”

“Kao invited me to come shoot video at TTHE Tournament in 2024 and it was such an incredible experience. I’ve never been to an event where so many people wanted to give interviews and were so kind. It was an easy yes when I was asked to come back for 2025! I’m so excited to see TTHE tournament grow and get to chat with even more incredible hockey players this year.”

“It is an absolute honour and joy to be involved in TTHE creating spaces for, and championing the voices of those marginalized in hockey. Kao has worked tirelessly to bring this vision to life each year and has allowed it to evolve in such a beautiful way centring around community and care. You can feel the intention behind every aspect and this tournament is just sheer magic!”

I discovered hockey for the first time as an adult, and am so grateful for welcoming environments like TTHE to play in and grow. This tournament is a true haven for our community and oozes joy from every available space. I’m so honoured to be a part of it, both as a player and now the team making it happen!”

“Loitering around TTHE last year was truly an incredible experience, and I’m beyond thrilled to be able to contribute more this year. It’s so important to have spaces like this that let everyone be their truest, most authentic selves, and to be able to enjoy it with a side of hockey is just about as good as it gets.”

Since 2025, thanks to a Community Safety Grant from @fiertecanadapride and @wage_fegc with guidance from @metisnationbc, TTHE has been able to include mental, spiritual and emotional support throughout the weekend by providing free access to  Therapists and Counsellors at the rink. No appointments needed. Folks can just chat whenever about whatever at no cost.

We SEE you.

We SUPPORT you.

This is how communities are built 💜

"Sports are very binary and as a trans non-binary player, it’s tough to find room that feels safe on the bench. I spent my twenties and early thirties just doing late night mens drop-ins which meant changing alone in the dressing room and never really getting to know any players. Being able to experience the connection and inclusion of a team has been so inspiring.”
